Edge to Edge : Serial Relief Prints
Laura Smith
Make a large print by connecting the edges of a single repeated woodcut. Learn various relief printing techniques: carving with hand tools, sharpening skills, color mixing, and easy, foolproof registration. There will be frequent demonstrations, hands-on production time and individual assistance.
Supply fee includes 2 pieces 7” x 9” cherry plywood, 1 sheet printing paper, ink and clean up materials, cutting tools, foam core.
Bring white colored pencil, mechanical pencil, snap-off blade or : knife, simple sketch for a 7 x 9 image, gardening gloves Showa Atlas brand is best,
$20 Materials fee to be paid at the first class by check or credit card:
2 - 7” x 9” cherry plywood plates
2 x Paison Washi paper
Double sided tape
spray shellac
white transfer paper
inks and shop consumables
Course includes 18 hours of instruction and the ability to work on class projects during open studio hours between the dates of June 16th - July 21st.
