HONOLULU PRINTMAKERS’ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

Honolulu Printmakers is seeking a new Executive Director to fill the position held by Duncan Dempster, who has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2022.  In order to assure an orderly selection process and a smooth transition, we are seeking interested individuals to apply for the position now.  We will be accepting applications until May 1st, after which we will begin our evaluation and selection process.


Job Description for Honolulu Printmakers’ Executive Director

Key aspects of the position include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities. A full description of expected duties can be accessed here.

  • Promote the appreciation and understanding of the art of printmaking, and educate the public as to its significance; Promote the benefits of becoming members of the Honolulu Printmakers.

  • Support and be responsible to the Printmakers’ officers and Board members; Meet regularly with the Board of Directors and report on current and upcoming activities at monthly board meetings.

  • Manage the Printmakers’ day-to-day operations including its financial activities, regular member communications, and other administrative functions. 

  • Equip, organize, and supervise the community-access printmaking studio and its volunteers during non-class hours.

  • Seek out fundraising opportunities and write grant applications.

  • Guide, assist and advise the Board committee heads of the Annual Exhibition, the Print and Book Fair, and other benefit events.

  • Organize and produce the annual newsletter, and write the report for the annual meeting.

  • Foster a good working relationship with the other Honolulu art organizations and the art community at large.


Conditions of employment:

  • Hours: Work 30 hours a week, preferably Tuesday through Saturday afternoons.

  • Salary: Approximately $45,000 per year (before taxes)

  • Skills: The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader, problem-solver, strong and inclusive communicator, organized but flexible, and well versed in computer operations. Knowledge of printmaking and studio operations is desirable.
