This course teaches students the basics of engraving, introducing the tools, techniques and temperament required. Dive in to one of printmaking's iconic processes (think postage stamps or dollar bills)! Work a metal plate without acids or chemical processes. Learning to drive the burin through copper can feel like a sculptural experience and delivers crisp and precise lines.
Supply fee of $50 to paid at the first class will include 1 -burin, 1 -scraper and 1 -copper plate to keep.
Class fee includes 15 hours of instruction and unlimited open studio time during the course.

Jared Wickware began engraving in the early 1970s as a student at California College of Arts & Crafts in Oakland. Already an accomplished pen and ink illustrator, he took naturally to the medium and loves to share its unique qualities with others.
